Global Education Network
History
In 2001 the Global Education Network was designed by Box Hill Institute in collaboration with Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in Calgary, Canada and Colorado Mountain College (CMC) in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, USA (which later withdrew due to changes in the College’s leadership team). Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA, joined the Global Education Network in 2004, and the Institute of Technical Education, Singapore, joined in 2006.
The Global Education Network initially formed as a result of discussions
between the three Institute/College presidents and chief executive officers,
all of whom were members of an international network, the Postsecondary
International Network. The Postsecondary International Network is a collegiate
organisation providing networking and professional development opportunities
for tertiary leaders. The Global Education Network founders saw the potential
for an international organisation providing international experiences for
students and for a wide variety of staff.
