Short Exchange for Box Hill Institute students to ITE, Singapore
By BHI, October 2007
Nineteen Box Hill Institute students completed a seven day study tour with Global Education Network partner college, Institute of Technical Education (ITE) in Singapore in October/November 2007. Miranda, Jerome, Deb and Grant talk about their study tour experience in Singapore:
Business district, Singapore
On Singapore…..
Singapore is a fantastic place to visit with friendly people I will never forget! A beautiful place, very green and lots of shopping! Very humid. Sunny days were very hot…a lot warmer than we are used to in Melbourne. (Miranda)
It is a very unique country in terms of cultural diversity…very polite and friendly people….small, easy to travel around using the MRT and taxis. (Jerome)
On Institute of Technical Education (ITE)…..

The ITE students have more spirit and are really willing to study and dedicate them selves to their work.
I think they are a lot more considerate, respectful, culturally aware and friendly than BHI students!

Personal Experiences….
The exchange provided an insight into how the hospitality industry operates overseas, and has given me a chance to meet new people and form business relationships (Jerome)
It has widened my perspective on other cultures and shows similarities and differences in how they study compared to us. (Grant)
I think it’s shown me the opportunities that are overseas and how massive the industry is.
It has given me the opportunity to learn and experience first hand every aspect of Singapore. It allowed me to learn a lot more about tourism and how Singapore prides itself on their tourism industry. (Miranda)
The Highlights….
Being buddied up with ITE West student was a really good experience. Visiting the night safari and all the shopping malls. Enjoying a choice/wide variety of cuisine…the food was excellent! (Jerome)
