Students from the Centre for Hospitality and Tourism Studies at Box Hill Institute (BHI), Melbourne, Australia, were awarded scholarships from Konika Minolta to assist with their Global Education Network (GEN) student exchange expenses. The students spent a semester studying at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT Polytechnic), Calgary, Canada, in 2005.

Representatives from Kirkwood Community College (KCC) in Iowa, USA, and SAIT Polytechnic spent three weeks at BHI in 2005 participating in a program with an academic, industry and tourism focus.
Students from KCC spent ten weeks hosted by BHI in 2005 in an internship with a hospitality industry focus. The students gained work experience in a number of high-profile Melbourne restaurants throughout the duration of their visit.
